We are seeking a Research Scientist to lead and support the development of medical-grade 3D printing materials for implants, surgical guides, dental, and regenerative medicine applications. The role focuses on polymer formulation, compounding, extrusion, characterization, and printability optimization under ISO 13485–aligned R&D and manufacturing environments.

This position plays a critical role in translating laboratory formulations into reliable, scalable, and regulatory-ready medical 3D printing filaments.

职责

Material Development & Formulation

  • Develop and optimize medical 3D printing materials, including PEEK, PMMA, PLLA, PETG, PC, and bioactive or composite systems
  • Design polymer formulations, fillers, and additives to achieve target mechanical, thermal, and biological performance
  • Evaluate material behavior across extrusion, annealing, and FDM/FFF printing processes

Extrusion & Process Development

  • Support filament extrusion, diameter control, and process parameter optimization
  • Troubleshoot extrusion defects, surface quality, and material stability
  • Support scale-up from lab trials to pilot and production runs

Characterization & Testing

  • Conduct material characterization including tensile, flexural, thermal, and rheological testing
  • Evaluate printability, layer adhesion, dimensional accuracy, and surface finish
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data to guide formulation and process decisions

Medical 3D Printing Evaluation

  • Develop and validate print profiles for industrial and desktop 3D printers
  • Assess printed parts for mechanical performance and functional suitability
  • Support application testing for implants, surgical guides, dental, and scaffold structures

Documentation & Regulatory Support

  • Maintain detailed experimental records, protocols, and technical reports
  • Support ISO 13485 documentation, material traceability, and validation activities
  • Assist in generating technical data for customers, partners, and regulatory submissions

Collaboration & Research

  • Work closely with engineers, quality, regulatory, and production teams
  • Support collaborations with hospitals, universities, and research institutions
  • Contribute to internal R&D strategy, technology roadmap, and innovation initiatives

入职条件

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • Strong hands-on experience in polymer materials, compounding, or extrusion
  • Experience with laboratory testing and data analysis
  • Ability to work independently in a regulated R&D environment
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills in English

Preferred Skills (Highly Advantageous)

  • Experience with medical-grade polymers or implantable materials
  • Familiarity with FDM/FFF 3D printing and print parameter optimization
  • Knowledge of ISO 13485, ISO 10993, ASTM, or USP Class VI frameworks
  • Experience in cleanroom or controlled manufacturing environments
  • Prior industry experience in medical devices or biomaterials
