Description

Applications are invited for appointment as Product Development Scientist (Bioinformatics) for innovative research projects in the themes of Screening Tests / Personalized Companion Diagnostics / Strategic Therapeutics Approaches / Advanced Medical Device Components based at the Hong Kong Science Park.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct cutting-edge research and development in AI modeling based on tumor NGS data (e.g., DNA-seq, RNA-seq), including establishing and optimizing analytical pipelines for tumor sequencing data such as SNV, Indel, CNV, and SV.
  • Design and develop bioinformatics tools or modules, including machine learning and data denoising.
  • Perform solution design, model training, and data mining on common bioinformatics datasets according to requirements of various tumor-related projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to collect, process, and mine relevant bioinformatics data based on project needs.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biomedical Sciences or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in bioinformatics data analysis or software development.
  • Hands-on experience in developing NGS data analysis algorithms and proficiency in using bioinformatics tools.
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix systems and strong programming skills in R, Python, Perl, Bash, or similar languages.
  • Knowledge of widely used bioinformatics databases (e.g., NCBI, ENCODE/Ensembl, ClinVar, COSMIC).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in reading and comprehending scientific literature in English.
  • Preferred: Experience in NGS data training, machine learning, data denoising or deep learning projects.
