We work at the intersection of patent law, technology, and global strategy. Our work is global, and we regularly interface with both domestic and international clients, handling cases with IP firms from all around the world. You will work with highly experienced patent attorneys to help clients build up strategic patent portfolios to protect their innovations globally.
Responsibilities
- Assisting patent attorneys in drafting patent applications and office action responses, conducting technical/scientific analyses, writing articles on case studies, conducting prior art searches, and other patent-related work
- Preparing and filing patent documents with various patent offices
- Assisting in managing patent portfolios, including monitoring deadlines and drafting communications with clients
- Career path involves building up fundamental patent skills (e.g., patent drafting, prosecution, patentability analyses, filing strategies, etc.) as well as passing the patent qualification examination to become a patent attorney/patent agent. Highly successful patent agents/attorneys achieve leadership positions such as Principal
Requirements
- Candidates with at least a university (bachelor’s) degree in science or engineering (preferably life sciences, biology, biomedical science, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, or biochemistry) who enjoy writing and learning about a variety of technologies.
- Excellent English and Chinese reading and writing skills
- Advanced degrees (Masters or Doctor) and/or working experience in R&D for 1 to 5 years are highly preferred. Prior experience in patent work is not a must but candidates with relevant patent experience are preferred. Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided.
