Description
Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor for innovative and highly collaborative research projects at the Hong Kong Science Park.
We are seeking individuals with a strong research focus in innovative bioengineering, particularly in the following core areas:
- Aqueous Two-Phase Systems (ATPS): Exploring the fundamental science and bioengineering applications of ATPS, including biomolecule separation, cell partitioning, and novel material designs, etc.
- Soft Matter for Biomedical Applications: Investigating and utilizing soft matter principles and materials in bioengineering, including hydrogels, emulsions, liquid crystals, and other soft materials for tissue engineering, drug delivery, and bio-interfacing, etc.
- Biomicrofluidics: Developing and applying microfluidic technologies to study biological systems at the cellular and molecular levels.
- Novel Device Technologies: Inventing groundbreaking device technologies for biomedical applications, encompassing microdevices, biosensors and bioanalytical technologies
These positions offer a unique platform to contribute to dynamic and rapidly evolving fields with significant impact across biophysics, biochemistry, medicine, and advanced materials, driving advancements in diagnostics and therapeutics. Responsibilities
- Establish and lead independent and impactful research projects
- Conduct high-quality and rigorous research, pushing the frontiers of knowledge in the chosen research areas
- Publish high-quality research papers on leading international journals
- Secure research funding by preparing and submitting competitive grant proposals
- Explore opportunities for industry-sponsored funding
- Supervise and mentor junior researchers and research students
Requirements
- Ph.D. degree and post-doctoral research training from an internationally recognized university in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related discipline, with a strong emphasis on experimental research.
- Demonstrated expertise and strong track records in the following areas: Aqueous Two-Phase Systems, Biomicrofluidics, Novel Device Technologies, or Soft Matter for Bioengineering. Research publications on top-tier scientific journals are required.
- Proven ability to independently design, execute, and lead research projects, and apply for funding
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, with the ability to effectively communicate research ideas and findings to diverse audiences.
